Wheildon renewable expertise thoroughly grounded
with Vaillant technology
A Vaillant geoTHERM ground source heat pump is the heat source of choice at the purpose built new premises of heating engineers, R&M Wheildon Ltd, based at Lower Bentham, near Lancaster. Director Roger Whieldon and his team have been installing Vaillant boilers for many years, and when Vaillant launched renewable technology, they were among the first to embrace it, being firmly convinced of the excellent quality of the company’s products. He says, “When we launched our new premises we decided to make them a showroom as well as an office, particularly for renewable technologies. With an eye fixed firmly on the future, we wanted to demonstrate that the Vaillant geoTHERM ground source heat pump is an excellent product that we were eager to use ourselves.”
Wheildons also installed two Vaillant solar panels for domestic hot water, a buffer store, and an underfloor heating system. As well as generating plentiful heat, the heat pump is also generating plenty of interest, and Wheildons’ expertise is already in demand, installing a growing number of similar projects. A year on since the installation, Roger Wheildon reports that energy bills have been extremely reasonable, and the system trouble free to run. “Everything here is electric, and we’ve easily had more domestic hot water in summer than we need. We’re investigating receiving an energy assist rebate which we believe is due thanks to the high level of energy efficiency.”
Two 90 metre deep 100mm wide bore holes were drilled in order to install 4 pipes used to extract heat from the ground and transfer it to the ground source heat pump. The system provides plenty of heat to the new build property, which is stone faced, wood lined and fully insulated.
R&M Wheildon Ltd also installs well in excess of 100 Vaillant boilers each year for its customers, and would rarely recommend anything else.
As Roger Wheildon concludes,
“We were keen on renewable technology from its early days and did some projects with other manufacturers. But as soon as Vaillant launched renewable products we got in touch with them, as we wanted to use equipment of their consistently high calibre. We wouldn’t use anything else now.”
